When the Lord Carrington Hotel was built in 1885, it would be hard to associate the world around it with our world today. No telecommunications, No rapid travel, No electricity, No recorded entertainment, No ‘Social Media’.
One of our goals in restoring the Carrington for another generation, is to create for our guests an environment where, if they relax and let their thoughts lose focus, they can experience social context and human qualities of people who came before us.
We choose art of the period to help create that environment. Throughout the restaurant complex, you will find hand-painted reproductions of a number of Victorian Era oil paintings. Many of the originals came from Australian artists, but also include European and American artist who each captured an essence of a society our primitive hearts still long for. We’ve curated this selection for your enjoyment and for your heart.
